Birthday Boy

Jordan turned one-year old on Saturday!  For some reason I was more excited for his birthday than I get for my own, which is a big deal. :)  Partly because now he can eat more foods, sit in a front-facing car seat, and because I want to really start weaning him. I was also really excited to watch him eat cake and open presents. I was definitely not disappointed.

A few things about Jordan.

Favorite food (besides Mom): red beans and rice (spicy foods don't bother him at all so far...), and baby cereal mixed with yogurt. (He gets really frantic/impatient when I'm preparing it)

Activities: dancing, reading books, and this youtube video called Baby Neptune. He get SO excited and animated when he watches it.He also loves to point to the places on my face, especially my nose.  He's also starting to really get into the imitation phase. Mostly it's just nonsense sounds, but he does do a pretty cute monkey sound if you wave around the monkey toy.

First word beside mama and dada was dog. Which he really only says around real dogs, not so much around pictures of dogs. However he loves his stuffed animal dog and gives it hugs and kisses.

He's not walking yet, but close. He'll walk if you hold at least one of his hands. Jordan isn't much of a risk taker, he's a very cautious kid. I could see him walking really soon, or in a few months, depending on how brave he decides to be.

Birthday Boy!

We gave him bubbles, a book, a ball that makes farm animal noises, bibs, and socks. (The alliteration was not on purpose :) )

When Jordan was unwrapping his presents he would rip off a piece of paper and carefully lay it to the side, tear another piece off and then lay it on top of the other pieces of paper. It was pretty funny to see how careful he was. Same thing with his cake. He just ate it in pinches, very carefully. I think he was a bit overwhelmed with an entire cake to destroy. He only ended up destroying a small portion of it.

But he still got plenty messy!

He also got to have a little party at Mom and Dad's house in Salt Lake the week before. He had no problem eating and mutilating one piece of cake, maybe it was the chocolate frosting.

Ahh! I can't believe how old he's getting! We've got to spend more time with the little tyke (and his parents, of course). Congrats on making it through the first year -- it's so tough! Thanks for the pics.

How cute. Very close to toddlerhood! Wish we could get Jack to eat some rice and beans.
